Sri Guru Gita Parayana — 12 to 18 Jan 2026

Humble Salutations to All the Seekers
Even if a disciple has become a Guru (or has realized the Parabrahman), they must offer salutations before their own Guru with devotion, humility, and total surrender.
In the sacred presence of Paramahamsa Sadguru Sri Satupasi Appaji at Sri Dattavadhuta Ashrama, Srikshetra Dodderi, a divine spiritual event is being organized for the upliftment of devotees:

Excerpts from the Guru Gita Book
If, even after reciting the sacred text of Śrī Guru Gītā, a person remains immersed in worldly enjoyments (laukika bhōga) without surrendering to the Guru, and turns away from devotion and the Guru’s instructions, it is like burning a sandalwood tree just to obtain a handful of ash.
Even if a disciple has become a Guru (or has realized the Parabrahman), they must offer salutations before their own Guru with devotion, humility, and total surrender.
bhāvādvaitaṃ sadā kuryāt kriyādvaitaṃ na karhicit |
advaitaṃ triṣu lokeṣu nādvaitaṃ guruṇā saha ||
(tattvopadeśa)
One should always maintain advaita (non-duality) in inner feeling (bhāva), but never in outward action (kriyā). Non-duality should be applied across the three worlds, but never with one’s Guru.
In accordance with the Guru’s teaching, the disciple’s inner state must remain in advaita. One must live with the realization that “Everything is the one Brahman, including my own Ātma.” Without internal awareness, merely speaking high-sounding words of advaita or making a forced effort to treat everyone equally as a performance of outward action leads to no spiritual progress. While the Parabrahman pervades all three worlds, the disciple must never behave with the Guru in an outward “Advaitic” manner.
Śrī Śaṅkarācārya emphasizes that the perspective of advaita is the right way to live. A disciple must cultivate the awareness in their heart and mind that “Everything is the one Paramātma.” However, advaita should never be reduced to outward imitation or display. Speaking lofty words of oneness without inner transformation, or rejecting distinctions without authentic realization, is a superficial action that misrepresents the Truth (Sat) and leads to spiritual ego (ahaṃkāra).
Once, a Guru was walking through a village with his disciples. He approached a liquor seller, drank a vessel full of liquor, and continued walking. The disciples following him began to whisper, “What is this? Does our Guru drink liquor?” Walking further, they reached another village and went to a blacksmith’s shop. There, the Guru took molten iron, drank it, and walked on. Seeing this, the disciples were terrified. They immediately prostrated at his feet and sought forgiveness. Then the Guru explained: “A true disciple does not imitate the outward actions of the Guru; instead, they perform sādhana to realize the knowledge imparted by him. Gurus may perform such startling actions out of their oneness with Brahman. But a disciple, even if he becomes a brahmajñānī, should not dream of being equal to his Guru.”
A disciple must not behave with a sense of “Advaitic” equality toward the Guru externally. Even if the disciple can see everything as the Ātma, they must never approach the Guru with the mindset of: “You and I are one; therefore, I need not prostrate, I need not serve, or I need not obey your words.” Outwardly, the Guru must always be honored, served, and worshiped as the manifest form of the Supreme Brahman. True advaita ripens only through humility, devotion, and surrender to the Guru.
For the upliftment of the disciple, Paramahaṃsa Sadguru Śrī Satupasi has stated in Ghanānubhavasāra: “guruvu shiShyege Bhaedillamma aritare neenae guruvamma” — Between the Guru and the disciple, there is no difference, O Mother; if you realize this, you yourself are the Guru, O Mother. And: “guruvu maaDhange neenu maaDabaeDae, sadguruvu haeLdhange neeniddubiDae” — Do not do as the Guru does; do as the Sadguru instructs.
