Sri Dattavadhuta Ashram

With the grace of Sadguru Appa, Dattavadhuta ashram has been built by the devotees. It is situated in Chitradurga district of Karnataka, 200 kms from Bangalore. This is a place where Lord Dattatreya is given prominence.  There are shrines for Lord Dattatreya, Lord Sripadavallabha, Lord Narasimha Saraswathi,  Sri Kanneshwara and Goddess Tripurambika.  In all the temples, Abhisheka, Poojas and arati happen thrice a day, followed by bhajans and Prasad.  Every Monday and Thursday there will be special panchamruta Abhisheka. On Thursday there will be procession of Lord Datta in the palanquin. All the devotees get dressed with great fervor and welcome the Lord with devotion by singing and dancing. Following the procession, they sing lullaby to Lord Datta. Every fortnight during Amavasya, Datta Bhiksha and Datta homa are conducted.

Special occasions like Maha Shivarathri, Sripadavallabha Jayanti, GuruPoornima, Datta Jayanti, Karthik Somavara and Sadguru’s birthday are celebrated with great devotion. Devotees from all over gather for the occasion and enjoy the divine presence of the Sadguru.  In this divine ashram there is no scope for worldly desires whereas  bhajans, satsangs, meditation and God’s seva are welcome. The Sadguru answers sincere queries of spiritual sadhakas and guides them in the path of spiritual pursuit.

Shivaratri 2023 – Bhava Darshana of Sadguru SriSatUpasi

The day before Maha Shivarathri, Ganga Pooja is performed which marks the beginning of the three day long celebration. In the early morning hours panchamruta Shiva Abhishekam is performed by Sadguru SriSatUpasi and all devotees participate in the event. The entire day is spent in his presence doing bhajans and seva. Once prasada is served everyone waits for midnight when Sadguru SriSatUpasi comes as Lord Shiva to bless everyone.  Later that evening there will be the procession of Lord Datta in the palanquin to Shiva Kannesha temple.  Sadguru SriSatUpasi leads the procession along with Shiva ganas.  Sadguru SriSatUpasi then performs the rudra tandava dance around midnight.  Devotees call out to Lord Shiva with devotion.  All the devotees stay awake all night and perform various dances and dramas.  Around 6 AM special mangalarati is performed.  Later that evening we have the chariot procession of Lord Datta.  All devotees dance in fervor and  devotion for the Lord. They leave with a blessed feeling of having been in Kailash with Lord Shiva himself.
